How the Vault Heist bonus works in Monaco: The Heist

How Monaco's Vault Heist bonus works: the Helicopter trigger, drills and mini vaults, stacking multipliers, loot bags, the Croupier's Wheel and the bonus buys.

Monaco's Vault Heist bonus: the reels inside the vault with a row of five mini vaults above them, a multiplier plaque and the spins left, as Le Patron and Scarlett rappel down.

The bonus round in Monaco: The Heist is the Vault Heist. Le Patron and Scarlett drop into the casino’s vault, and every spin from then on is about cracking it open. This post walks through how the bonus works, feature by feature, exactly as the rules stand in the game.

How the bonus starts

In the base game, land 3 or more Helicopter symbols and the crew drops into the vault. How many Helicopters you land decides where you start:

  • 3 Helicopters start the Vault Heist.
  • 4 Helicopters start Heist+, with a head start.
  • 5 Helicopters start The Big Score.

Those are Monaco’s three bonus tiers. They share the same mechanics; the higher tiers simply begin further ahead.

Drills and the mini vaults

Above each of the five reels sits a mini vault. During the bonus, every Drill that lands charges the vault above its reel. Charge a vault enough and it cracks.

A cracked vault does two things: it reveals a multiplier, and it adds spins to the bonus.

Multipliers that stack

The multiplier from a cracked vault isn’t used once and thrown away. It’s added to a total that lasts for the whole bonus. The total never resets between spins, so every vault you crack makes everything that comes after it worth more.

Loot bags

Loot bags carry cash values. After each bonus spin, the bags pay out times the multiplier you’ve built so far. Because the multiplier only ever grows during the bonus, the same bag is worth more late in the heist than it was at the start.

The Croupier’s Wheel

Every bonus entry spins the Croupier’s Wheel. It can award:

  • extra spins,
  • a bigger starting multiplier, or
  • an upgrade to a higher bonus tier.

Buying your way in

The Monaco Buy a Heist menu: five bonus buys, from Smash & Grab to The Long Con, each with its picture, spins and price. The Buy Feature menu, as it appears in the free demo.

You don’t have to wait for the Helicopters. Monaco has five bonus buys that start a bonus straight away. Each has its own price, as a multiple of your bet, and its own theoretical RTP:

Bonus buy Cost (× bet) RTP
Smash & Grab 29.75× 96.60%
Vault Heist 100× 96.66%
The Long Con 223.5× 96.66%
Heist+ 241.5× 96.64%
The Big Score 418× 96.64%

There is also a middle option. The Inside Man special bet costs 1.25× your bet per spin and gives you better odds of triggering the bonus naturally.

Every mode, including the base game, has the same maximum win of 25,000× the bet. That figure is a theoretical maximum, and hitting it is extremely rare. If you want to know what the RTP figures do and don’t mean, read how RTP works in slot games.

Try it

The best way to understand the Vault Heist is to watch it play out. The Monaco: The Heist demo is free, uses play money and runs in your browser, and the bonus buys are all there to try. For the full feature list and the game’s specifications, see the Monaco: The Heist game page.

What are tumbling reels? How cascading wins work

Tumbling reels, also called cascading reels, let a single spin pay more than once. Here's how the mechanic works, with Monaco's 1,024-ways board as the example.
